Seniors in the world of the JakDojade application

Holidays are approaching fast. In a few days we will set off on journeys… small and large ones.

To make the journey smooth, safe and stress-free, seniors at computer classes organized as part of the E-Senior 2 project project no.: 2022-1-PL01-ESC30-SOL-000067331 familiarized themselves with the JakDojade application. They independently downloaded the application from Google Play, App Store and Windows Store. The tool will help seniors travel by public transport in Polish cities, search for bus, tram or subway connections in dozens of towns, and set a route between planned destinations. The application also takes into account transfers, vehicle delays, changes in timetables, walking times, ticket purchase and many other parameters.

The participants of the project quickly mastered the use of the JakDojade tool. They were positively surprised by the possibilities offered by the application. It will probably be used by Seniors to plan their holiday trips.

Ceremonial celebration of “Earth Day” in the Non-Public Nursery and Kindergarten “Świat Dziecka” in Siewierz

On April 24-26, 2023, a series of Earth Day classes, often called the International Mother Earth Day, was organized in the Non-Public Nursery and Kindergarten “Świat Dziecka” in Siewierz. In those days, groups of preschoolers: Smurfs, Leprechauns, Kropeczki participated in ecological workshops carried out as part of the project “Little with age, but big with eco-heart!” project no.: 2022-3-PL01-ESC30-SOL-000097905.

The aim of the workshop was to promote pro-ecological attitudes in society and to build common responsibility for our planet. Preschoolers participated in a chat about soil pollution, waste segregation, recycling. They tried to answer the question: what can we do to keep the earth clean? In the next part of the classes, the youngest participants of the project made a globe in groups using recycled materials.

The culmination of the pro-environmental knowledge gained was planting trees in the kindergarten garden. Preschoolers, under the care of preschool teachers, planted about 40 pine seedlings. The seedlings come from the Siewierz Forest Inspectorate – State Forests.

The children were very involved in activities for our planet.

In a healthy body there is a healthy spirit

On March 29, the next classes of the project “Young in Spirit” No. 2022-2-PL01-ESC30-SOL-000091172 took place.

Unfortunately, the weather aura is not yet conducive to outdoor exercises, but our seniors undoubtedly already have spring in their souls. You can see that the participants are having fun during the classes, and the smile never leaves their faces.

With each class, seniors make new acquaintances and strengthen friendships. Physical effort and group meetings definitely benefit them and affect their well-being.

We are glad that we can contribute to improving the condition and mood of project participants.

Easter eco-baskets

On March 30, 2023, a group of Smurfs, Leprechauns and Kropeczek from the Non-Public Nursery and Kindergarten “Świat Dziecka” in Siewierz participated in handicraft workshops. This time, preschoolers prepared Easter eco-baskets. The youngest showed great ingenuity and commitment. To make the baskets, the children used plastic PET bottles and string, giving these items a second life. They decorated the baskets with tissue paper, colored paper and styrofoam eggs.

The work was not easy at all, the task was difficult and demanding cooperation. From under the talented hands of preschoolers, colorful eco-baskets for Easter began to appear.

Handicraft workshops were organized as part of the European Solidarity Corps program entitled “Little with age, but big with eco-heart!” project number: 2022-3-PL01-ESC30-SOL-000097905.

Ukrainian melodies

The next classes of the project “What do we know about tolerance” No. 2022-1-PL01-KA152-YOU-000067324 implemented as part of the Erasmus+ program took on a musical character.

The participants of the project met again with the professor and students from Ukraine, who played the role of lecturers and with great commitment passed on more interesting facts about their country. The conducted classes were devoted to a part of Ukrainian culture, i.e. music. The students eagerly told the youth about solemn Ukrainian songs, as well as about the songs that today’s Ukrainian youth listens to, and about songs that are timeless for them. Each story was accompanied, of course, by listening to a given song by everyone.

The participants enjoyed the music classes very much, and some of them, leaving the room, continued to hum the Ukrainian melody they had heard earlier.

Spring art workshops in the Public Kindergarten. Winnie the Pooh in Sarnów

The theme of the workshop was the first harbingers of spring. The youngest participants of the project, under the watchful eye of Mrs. Agnieszka, independently made artistic works on which one could notice: storks, white cats on the willow, a meadow, the sun, flowers, i.e. the first signs of spring. Preschoolers made every effort to make the hand-made harbingers of spring beautiful.

School supplies used during the workshops were purchased by the Foundation for Education – SMART.

Movement is in fashion regardless of age

Classes carried out as part of the project “Young in spirit” No. 2022-2-PL01-ESC30-SOL-000091172 are very popular among seniors. We see new faces in class all the time. Opole seniors know that movement is health, which is why they effectively encourage their peers to exercise.

The last classes were devoted to stretching to make seniors aware of how to perform exercises that improve body posture. Members of the initiative group of the project, who act as trainers, also focused on improving the mobility of the legs from the hips to the feet in seniors. Expanding the participants’ range of motion and warming up their legs is not accidental. It’s high time to get your legs used to spring walks and movement outside.

We hope that the next classes will be accompanied by beautiful weather to finally be able to practice outdoors!
