French cuisine workshop

On September 2, 2022, the first culinary workshops after the summer break were organized as part of the “World on a plate” project, project number: 2021-2- PL01-ESC30-SOL-000040182.

During the classes, seniors went on a culinary journey to France, whose cuisine is known and appreciated all over the world. French cuisine is delicate, light, sublime and fanciful. It delights with the variety of flavors, splendor of serving dishes and originality. Although we commonly associate it with frog legs, snails and roasted chestnuts, French cuisine offers excellent fish and seafood, great-quality meat, and phenomenal cheeses.

Under the watchful eye of the trainer, the seniors prepared various dishes in the subgroups, i.e .:

– French crêpes Suzette with oranges,

– Quiche lorraine tart, or Lorraine cake,

– cheese and onion soup.

The workshops ended with tasting the dishes prepared together.

Jiro Ono used to say, “Only by eating excellent dishes, you are able to prepare such dishes.”

The recipes of the dishes can be found –> https://swiatnatalerzu.fundacjasmart.pl/kuchnie-swiata/francja/

We are coming back after holidays!

Holidays are behind us and even though we would like to extend it a bit, unfortunately, none of it… It’s time to get back to the projects! That is why we come back with the project “Colors of Life” – 2021-1-PL01-ESC30-SOL-000036535. We would like to remind you that the project aims to raise awareness among young people about the importance of prevention and taking care of their health. Each month and each color in this project is dedicated to a different disease, as September has started it’s time for Alzheimer’s disease and the main color is purple. Alzheimer’s is a degeneration of the nervous system (neurodegenerative) condition that causes general dementia and develops very slowly. Most often, Alzheimer’s disease affects the elderly who have reached 65 years of age, which is why it is so often associated with lower mental performance due to age. The disease process causes damage to the cerebral cortex, which in turn gives rise to various symptoms, such as:

  • Memory impairment;
  • Lowering general mental activity;
  • Disorientation in space and time;
  • Frequent mood changes;
  • Reluctance to perform any activities;
  • Apathy;

Symptoms vary depending on the stage of the disease.

The first workshop on the “Tell me …” project

In June, the first national workshop under the “Tell me …” project took place – 2021-2-PL01-KA210-YOU-000051578. The workshop was attended by 15 students of the Technical Secondary School No. 4 Transport in Sosnowiec. At the beginning, the students got acquainted with the workshop program, and then they could move on to the exercises prepared for them. The topic of the lesson was “Tell me about your plans.” The participants eagerly discussed their dreams and goals, they touched upon, among others, issues such as:

  • What are plans and dreams? Is it worth dreaming?
  • How to turn dreams into plans and how to make them come true?
  • Practical application of the SMARTer method to make your dreams come true.
  • How to get the best of life and where to find strength and determination for continuous development?
  • Decision making (management: planning, organizing, controlling) as a tool necessary to implement plans and dreams;
  • Dream map – what is it and what are its functions?

After a fruitful discussion, the students switched to practical exercises, which consisted of:

  • choosing a dream / goal attractive for the whole group;
  • planning your holiday week;
  • creating your own dream map.

During the breaks between the main workshop program, students had the opportunity to take part in exercises developing psychomotor skills: concentration, mindfulness, and divided attention. And all this with, for example, fun, learning to juggle or anti-stress coloring books.
Together with the participants, we are looking forward to the next national workshops!
