Preschoolers clean up the world…

September is the month in which we join the “Clean Up the World” campaign. This year, as part of the implemented project „Little with age, but big with eco-heart!”, project no.: 2022-3-PL01-ESC30-SOL-000097905, children from the Private Nursery and Kindergarten “Child’s World” in Siewierz participated in cleaning up the world. The aim of the campaign was to promote the principles of caring for the environment from an early age.
The day in kindergarten, i.e. September 15, 2023, started with a talk on the topic: “Why should we care about the environment we live in?” Later, children from the groups: Leprechauns, Smurfs and Dots, equipped with gloves and bags, set out with their preschool teachers to tidy up the nearby area. Preschoolers cleaned the kindergarten garden and the area near the kindergarten with great commitment. By tidying up the designated area, they felt that they were doing something important for our planet. During the cleaning, project participants learned that they should take care of nature, protect it, and enjoy its charms.

We hope that the experience gained in this way will result in good ecological habits in the future.

Free sports classes for seniors from Sosnowiec are back

September is not only the beginning of school, but also the return of our seniors to sports activities.

After the summer break, seniors from Sosnowiec and the surrounding area taking part in the “Young in Spirit” project no. 2022-2-PL01-ESC30-SOL-000091172 return to Thursday classes with sports coaches.

The first such meeting took place on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at 6 p.m. Everyone was looking forward to this moment. Attendance at classes was very high. Under the supervision of a qualified trainer, Mrs. Julia, the seniors performed exercises aimed at improving their physical condition and mobility, because “Exercise can replace almost any drug, but no drug can replace exercise.” During the classes, the instructor introduced new exercises that model, among others, the abdominal muscles and release the back muscle tension. Despite a lot of physical effort, the seniors were in good spirits and willingly performed the presented exercises. They can’t wait for their next classes.

Hug a tree – the advantages of tree therapy in kindergarten

On September 11, 2023, children from the Tigers group attending the Public Kindergarten. Winnie the Pooh in Sarnów took part in the National Campaign “Hug a Tree”. The aim of the campaign was to teach children respect for nature, sensitivity and the ability to draw positive energy from contact with nature. Children participating in the campaign learned through various types of activities – talks, lectures, an educational film entitled “Tree” about how to take care of nature. The culmination of all activities was an art work made by preschoolers titled: “I love the tree.” A walk together allowed all curious children to touch, smell and hug the trees growing in the kindergarten square.

Preschoolers also became familiar with the concept of tree therapy, i.e. green energy from trees that has a calming effect on our behavior.

The workshops were organized as part of the project „Little with age, but big with eco-heart!” project number: 2022-3-PL01-ESC30-SOL-000097905.

Fitness check after holidays

The first classes after the holidays carried out as part of the “Young in Spirit” project No. 2022-2-PL01-ESC30-SOL-000091172 were conducted without a reduced fee for participants. Warm-up, training and final stretching showed who was in shape during the holidays and it turned out that… all our seniors were active during the summer break!

After the classes, the seniors praised what form of sport they practiced during their holidays. Many people admitted that when exercising at home or outdoors, they performed the exercises learned during classes, using the acquired knowledge on how to perform them correctly.

The participants are satisfied with the classes and admit that the daily exercise they have implemented into their daily schedule gives them strength and improves their well-being, which we are very happy about!

Family Ecological Picnic at the end of the holidays

On Friday, August 25, 2023, a Family Ecological Picnic was organized at the end of the holidays at the Private Nursery and Kindergarten “Child’s World” in Siewierz.

The event was outdoor. It started at 2 p.m. in the kindergarten square. The picnic was attended by large numbers of children from kindergarten groups: Dots, Pixies, Smurfs, as well as parents, grandparents and guardians. It was an opportunity to spend time together.

There were many attractions for preschoolers, including: competitions with prizes in which they had to demonstrate their knowledge of waste segregation, recycling and water care.

There were also some unusual surprises, such as a large inflatable slide and a castle that the youngest could use as much as they wanted. Throughout the entire event, children were provided with: cotton candy, popcorn, and ice cream.

After dusk, a bonfire was lit and cakes were baked in a cauldron.

Everyone took advantage of the picnic offer at their discretion. It was noisy, joyful and family-friendly. The time spent together brought a lot of joy and smiles to the children’s faces.

Organizational meeting after the holidays!

We are back after the summer break with recharged batteries and eager to get to work, we are jumping into high gear!

We start, of course, by organizing plans for the next year. Therefore, on September 12, we held a meeting with our seniors from Opole, during which we presented what activities the foundation offers for them after the holidays. We discussed the proposed project classes along with the dates and times that will be tailored to the participants so that as many people as possible can attend them.

Two new projects from the SMART Foundation are starting soon!!!

  • “Digital Senior”
Computer classes for people 60+ who would like to start their adventure with using a computer or develop their existing competences – we plan to open 3 groups with different learning levels, so we believe that every senior will find a place suitable for his or her current skills.
  • “Healthy Plate”
Culinary classes for seniors held once a month, during which participants will be able to acquire or develop their culinary skills by preparing healthy and tasty meals and expand their knowledge of nutrition thanks to theoretical classes. In the project, we want to infect participants with the desire to pay attention to what we eat, what products in our kitchen we can replace with healthier substitutes and how to plan our meals so as not to waste food.

We also propose 2 projects from the Egida Foundation, with which we cooperate closely:

  • “I have the right”
Legal knowledge classes for seniors, which include, among others: topics related to inheritance law, patient rights and benefits that seniors can benefit from. During the classes, there is also time to ask questions about law that concern our participants.
  • “At a Certain Age”
Artistic classes for people 60+, in which seniors will be able to discover new passions, meet new people and have a nice time. The project will include, among others: art, dance and aqua aerobics classes.

All classes take place in Opole, so we invite all interested people from the Opole Voivodeship to participate in the projects.

“Watermelon Day” in the group of Pixies, Smurfs and Little Dots

Holidays are a time of joy, sunny days and juicy fruit. On a hot August day in the Private Nursery and Kindergarten “Children’s World” in Siewierz, preschoolers from the group of Pixies, Smurfs and Dots celebrated an unusual holiday – “Watermelon Day”. On this day, children made fruit sailboats on their own. For work, they used materials that had been given a second life: watermelon rind, plastic bottles, long toothpicks, red sheets of paper from the technical block. The youngest coped with this task very well. To provide plenty of attractions on this day, the children and their teacher went to the swimming pool located in the kindergarten to launch watermelon sailboats.

These were successful activities that gave the children a lot of joy and satisfaction. The opportunity to make a sailboat was an excellent lesson in handicraft and an inspiration for artistic activities.

The workshops were conducted as part of the project „Little with age, but big with eco-heart!” project number: 2022-3-PL01-ESC30-SOL-000097905.

A trip for seniors from Sosnowiec to Opole

Discovering new places is the best opportunity to spend your free time actively. Therefore, on August 29, 2023, on Tuesday, a group of 20 seniors from Sosnowiec went on a trip to Opole. The trip was organized as part of the European Solidarity Corps project entitled “Young in spirit” project number: 2022-2-PL01-ESC30-SOL-000091172. The idea of a trip for seniors was consistent with the aim of the project, which is to stimulate seniors to take action, awaken their curiosity about physical activity and take care of their physical and mental well-being.

The seniors started their tour of Opole from the Piast Tower. From its top you could see a beautiful landscape of the city skyline. Later they visited an extraordinary place, the Museum of Polish Song. There, seniors used audio guides and touch screens to listen to songs by Polish artists who performed on the Opole stage years ago. They also visited the Opole Amphitheater. The next point of the program was a walk around the Opole Old Town, during which participants could see: the Cathedral, the Town Hall, the Avenue of Polish Song Stars, and the Venice of Opole. There was also the opportunity to taste wonderful French pancakes in Grabówka, which are enjoyed by residents and tourists not only from Poland, but also from all over the world.

Later, all project participants went to the Opole open-air museum, commonly known as the open-air museum. They had the opportunity to walk along country paths, look into thatched cottages, visit a water mill, a windmill, a school, etc.

Everyone really enjoyed the trip. The seniors covered the beautiful Opole paths without any problems. The seniors returned home full of impressions, thinking about their next trip.

Workshops of painting “Eco-bags” for children and teenagers

On August 7, 2023 at At 10.00 in the City Center for Culture, Sport and Tourism in Siewierz, creative and educational workshops of handicraft painting “Eco – bags” were held. 20 people participated in the classes.

As part of the workshop, participants had the opportunity to decorate and paint “Eco-bags” by themselves. The children had reusable cotton bags, templates and special fabric markers at their disposal. Children applied nature-themed patterns to fabric bags and then painted them. As a result, the participants created wonderful and original ecological bags. The children showed great ingenuity and creativity.

Participation in the ecological workshops was free of charge. It was organized as part of the project “Little with age, but big with eco-heart!” project no.: 2022-3-PL01-ESC30-SOL-000097905.
