Computer classes for seniors on the use of Canva

On January 26, 2023, computer classes for seniors on the use of the Canva program were held as part of the project “It’s never too late to learn” project number: 2021-1-PL01-KA122-ADU-000021044.

During the classes, project participants learned the basic functions of the Canva graphic program. They got acquainted with the main principles of design. They learned the basics of composition, choosing colors and processing photo materials. Knowledge of these issues allowed them to create their own graphics, e.g. Christmas cards for loved ones.

During the classes, many questions were asked by seniors, which indicates that modern technologies are a challenge for them, which they are happy to face.

Seniors are eager to acquire new knowledge. Age is not an obstacle for them because it is never too late to learn.

Movement is health and it is at all ages

Physical exercise and care for the condition of seniors are one of the pillars of the implemented project “Young at heart” – project number: 2022-2-PL01-ESC30-SOL-000091172. Classes are held bi-weekly on Wednesdays. They are conducted by project initiators acting as experienced trainers. During the classes, each participant has a mat, a roller and an exercise band at their disposal.
The intensity of classes is adapted to people over 65 plus.

During the last class, seniors were given sets of gymnastic exercises that they can do both in class and on their own at home. The sets show warm-up and mobilization. These exercises are mainly intended to improve joint mobility and prepare the muscle for the target work during physical activity.

All seniors participate in sports activities with great commitment.

Moving is healthy! Also for the elderly.

Good relationships are the basis of a happy family

On January 23, 2023. foster families started a training course entitled “Training – Initial building of good relationships between foster parents and children.” implemented within the project
„Conscious Parent Academy – Replacement parent urgently needed!” project number 2020-1-PL01-KA204-082283.

Thanks to the Municipal Social Welfare Center in Żory acting as a host organization, foster families from Lithuania, Portugal and Poland have the opportunity to expand their knowledge on building relationships between foster parents and children. Each of the participants takes the classes very seriously, because they are aware of the importance of creating a positive relationship with the child. In the case of a foster parent, the relationship between him and the ward requires special care to be strong and durable.

We hope that the training will be fruitful, and that the families taking part in it will gain a lot of useful knowledge that they will be able to use and share with their loved ones.

Arabic cooking workshop

On January 13, 2023, seniors participating in the project “World on a plate” project no. 2021-2-PL01-ESC30-SOL-000040182 went on an extraordinary culinary journey to the countries of the Arab world.

During the cultural studies classes, Mrs. Mariola, the lecturer, introduced the project participants to the secrets of Middle Eastern cuisine. She talked about the most commonly used ingredients, products, cooking techniques, dishes, and culinary traditions.

Arabian cuisine is characterized by a passion for healthy eating and eating meals together. Local ingredients are used to prepare Arabic dishes, i.e. cereal grains, legumes, vegetables, fruits, milk, nuts and dried fruits. An important element of Arabic cuisine, apart from flavors and aromas, is also the way of serving dishes – appetizing morsels on many bowls or plates.

Seniors together prepared delicious Arabic dishes, i.e.:
– QATAYEF COOKIES – Arabian cookies, eaten all year round, especially
during Ramadan;
– oven kofta, i.e. beef skewers;
– SHAKSHUKA – Arabic “mish-mash”;
– TABBOULEH salad with bulgur.

At the end, there was a tasting of what the seniors had prepared.

The meeting took place in a very friendly atmosphere. Participants were satisfied with the classes, took an active part in them and were involved in the tasks, evaluating the classes as very attractive.

Rock ‘n’ roll

Activities within the project “What’s playing in your heart?” no – 2022-2-PL01-ESC30-SOL-000090896 in the new year we conducted in rock sounds.

The participants of the classes worked with different types of sounds created by themselves, from which the melody was created. Full of freestyle, imagination and spontaneous action created interesting rhythms!

There were a lot of new faces among the participants, which we are very happy about! A group of over ten people allowed for work in a variety of voices, from sopranos and altos to male basses and tenors.

At the end of the class, the participants sang the song Imagine Dragons – Radioactive in four voices. During the final singing of the song, everyone gave their best to release emotions and feel at ease in singing.

The next classes will take place on January 26, during which we will focus more on the theory and reading notes that the participants of the classes work with.
