We write in Ukrainian

On March 9, participants of the project “What do we know about tolerance” No. 2022-1-PL01-KA152-YOU-000067324 implemented as part of the Erasmus+ program continued their adventure of learning Ukrainian. The young people, with a little help from the teachers, repeated the knowledge about the Ukrainian alphabet acquired during the first classes.

The young people were satisfied with the activities carried out, with particular enthusiasm they joined the task summarizing the activities. Each of the participants received sentences in Polish, which they then had to translate into Ukrainian using the received alphabet. The young people were excited about the task and the fact that after a short time of study they are able to write something in Ukrainian.

Students eager to absorb more knowledge are looking forward to the next classes.

Folk Youth

More classes as part of the project “What’s playing in your heart?” No. – 2022-2-PL01-ESC30-SOL-000090896 sounded in folk sounds.

An increasingly large group creates a group of our participants. Information about our classes in superlatives reaches a wider audience, which makes us very happy!

We started the classes (of course, not forgetting about the vocal warm-up) with theoretical classes. Pola Kardas, the host, guided the participants through the basics of reading notes on a staff and all additional signs that may appear on it. Thanks to this knowledge, we were able to look at the new songs in a more understandable way. 🙂

What notes were waiting for us? Folk music! Red Berries and Lipka were not a challenge for us. Quick learning of the text, division of voices, deciphering the notes and the participants once again did a great job with the final recordings.

On March 23, we invite you to the next meeting. Film music will enter the classes as in the salons! We can’t wait to see what arrangements our host is preparing!

Jпривіт – We say hello to the Ukrainian language

With the launch of the project, meetings aimed at raising the level of tolerance in young people began. The first classes were held for a Polish group of participants and were devoted to learning the Ukrainian language. In addition to the professor conducting the classes, students from Ukraine also participated in the meeting, thanks to which the students participating in the lesson could hear the language from real native speakers. Along with learning basic phrases and the alphabet, the young people got to know a bit of Ukraine’s geography and culture. Each of the three students told the audience about their city, interests or favorite music.

The young people showed great interest in the activities. The meetings are conducted in a friendly atmosphere, which is conducive to deepening the relationship between the participants. Curious about a new language, young people are looking forward to future classes.

The project “What do we know about tolerance” No. 2022-1-PL01-KA152-YOU-000067324 is implemented as part of the Erasmus+ program.

Seniors are becoming physically fitter

As part of our project “Young in spirit” No. 2022-2-PL01-ESC30-SOL-000091172, our seniors expand their knowledge of physical culture, which makes them more and more efficient.

We are proud of the fact that the number of practicing participants is constantly growing and is approaching twenty people. For those who are still wondering whether to join us, we assure you that there will be plenty of room. 😉

Seniors are still practicing in the large gym, but the spring aura is slowly spreading to us and we can’t wait for outdoor activities. The willingness and smile with which our pupils join the exercises motivates them to organize further activities.

During the last class, each participant received sets of gymnastic exercises, which they can also use at home.

See you in two weeks, we can’t wait!

The flavors of Georgia

Georgian cuisine is unique and one of a kind – filling, aromatic, natural. First of all, it is dominated by fresh vegetables and a wealth of aromatic spices and herbs, i.e. coriander, tarragon, garlic and savory.

She told us about the culture and secrets of Georgian cuisine during culinary workshops organized as part of the project “World on a plate” project no. 2021-2-PL01-ESC30-SOL-000040182, an instructor conducting classes with seniors.

Georgian cuisine is not only food. It is much more. It is a combination of an extremely warm, hospitable atmosphere, a long and rich tradition and countless delicacies.

During the culinary classes, seniors prepared:

  • AJAR CHACHAPURI, or yeast bread in the shape of a boat with feta cheese and mozzarella;
  • CHINKALI – Georgian dumplings;
  • LAVASH – Armenian bread in the shape of a flat cake;
  • CZIHIRTMA – Georgian broth;
  • GEORGIAN TEA CAKE;
  • KEPIŁA, or Georgian minced cutlets;

It was a lot of work, but at the same time everyone could learn something new. At the end, there was a tasting of dishes prepared by seniors.

Senior shopping online

The next computer classes are behind us. The computer for seniors is becoming more and more friendly. Seniors are more active online.

During the last computer classes organized as part of the “E-Senior 2” project, project no. 2022-1-PL01-ESC30-SOL-000067331, seniors got acquainted with the most popular shopping platforms Allegro and OLX. They have found that online shopping allows them to conveniently buy what they need at a convenient time, from the comfort of their home, compare prices and even get to know the opinion about the product before buying. There is also no need to carry heavy goods, because what you order will be delivered straight to your door. Project participants overcome a barrier that seemed impossible to cross when they started their adventure with online shopping.

Training for foster families in Poland – “Initial building of good relations between foster parents and children”

From 23 to 27 January 2023. in Żory, Poland, a training entitled “Initial building of good relations between foster parents and children” was held for foster families from Poland, Portugal and Lithuania. The training was conducted as part of the project „Conscious Parent Academy – Replacement parent urgently needed!” project number 2020-1-PL01-KA204-082283.

During the training, participants gained knowledge on the following topics:

  • organization of foster care in Poland,
  • building good relations between foster parents and children,
  • upbringing in a foster family,
  • building good relationships in a peer group.

The above topics were discussed during:

– training classes at the Municipal Library in Żory,

– study visits to professional foster families from Żory,

– study visit to the day support center – Children’s Home “Horyzont” in Żory.

During the workshops in the “Horyzont” Hall, all participants took part in active intercultural and intergenerational integration using the “Klanz” method, which is based on multidirectional activity combining movement, music, dance, art and cognitive activities. The following were used for this purpose:

– games related to the organization of initial situations (establishing contact with the group),

– playing with an animated scarf, during which the participants additionally learned the names of colors in different languages (English, Polish, Lithuanian, Portuguese and Ukrainian).

Families were also presented with the forms used in sociotherapy concerning work on emotions and team integration. Participants learned what primary emotions are and how to call these emotions in the above context. The tools used in team building, i.e. the circle of communication and the circle of cooperation, were also discussed.

During the training, the foster families, in addition to expanding their knowledge, had the opportunity to visit the City of Żory, the City Museum in Żory, the Historic Ignacy Mine in Rybnik, the Historic Palace and Park Complex in Pszczyna, the European Bison Farm and the open-air museum in Pszczyna and historic Krakow.

“I think that the training for foster families was very good, fruitful and useful. Thanks to this training, foster families could learn about the functioning of foster care in another country, thanks to which they can understand, appreciate and see the differences and similarities. In addition, foster families had the opportunity to share their own thoughts, observations and problems resulting from performing their functions, thanks to a joint conversation they understood that they are not alone and all foster families face similar problems. I also consider the classes in the “Horyzont” common room to be very successful, where there was a lot of integration through fun and laughter. Many tasks related to building relationships, trust, recognizing emotions and their meaning. It was a nice experience because of multiculturalism – a lot of positive emotions and breaking down barriers in relationships.” – said one of the trainers about the training.

Each day the participants of the training became more and more integrated with each other and with the teachers. Participants of the classes gained a lot of practical knowledge and techniques of building good relationships that they will be able to use in their families.
