Arabic cooking workshop

On January 13, 2023, seniors participating in the project “World on a plate” project no. 2021-2-PL01-ESC30-SOL-000040182 went on an extraordinary culinary journey to the countries of the Arab world.

During the cultural studies classes, Mrs. Mariola, the lecturer, introduced the project participants to the secrets of Middle Eastern cuisine. She talked about the most commonly used ingredients, products, cooking techniques, dishes, and culinary traditions.

Arabian cuisine is characterized by a passion for healthy eating and eating meals together. Local ingredients are used to prepare Arabic dishes, i.e. cereal grains, legumes, vegetables, fruits, milk, nuts and dried fruits. An important element of Arabic cuisine, apart from flavors and aromas, is also the way of serving dishes – appetizing morsels on many bowls or plates.

Seniors together prepared delicious Arabic dishes, i.e.:
– QATAYEF COOKIES – Arabian cookies, eaten all year round, especially
during Ramadan;
– oven kofta, i.e. beef skewers;
– SHAKSHUKA – Arabic “mish-mash”;
– TABBOULEH salad with bulgur.

At the end, there was a tasting of what the seniors had prepared.

The meeting took place in a very friendly atmosphere. Participants were satisfied with the classes, took an active part in them and were involved in the tasks, evaluating the classes as very attractive.
