A culinary journey around Spain

Spanish cuisine is very diverse due to the multitude of products used. Its secret lies in its natural simplicity, keeping it calm and a small number of ingredients. Everyone will find something for themselves in it. The richness of vegetables and fruits, combined with aromatic spices, make ready-made Spanish dishes look extremely appetizing and encourage eating.
On Friday, May 27, 2022, at the First Degree Industry School in Sosnowiec, Mediterranean cuisine classes were held, during which seniors could learn the secrets of preparing traditional Spanish dishes. During the workshops, the seniors prepared the following Spanish dishes in subgroups, i.e .:

  • tortilla de patatas, a Spanish omelette with potatoes and onions;

  • churros with chocolate sauce.

The three-hour workshop ended with a real feast during which seniors enjoyed the prepared specialties. The table was full of tasty food – like a real Spanish feast. Culinary workshops were conducted as part of the European Solidarity Corps project “World on a plate” – 2021-2-PL01-ESC30-SOL-000040182.

I am green in May …

The “Colors of Life”- 2021-1-PL01-ESC30-SOL-000036535 project is in full swing. Another month has started, so what does it mean? We will present another health issue that is worth paying attention to, this time it will be about mental health. This month, we’ll find out what mental health is and how to properly care for it! In May, green will be the leading color.

Mental health, also called well-being or mental equilibrium, is the foundation of proper human functioning. It not only translates into well-being and emotions, but is inextricably linked with physical health. What is mental health? According to the WHO definition, mental health is a state thanks to which a person can fully participate in social life, is capable of productive work, fulfills his needs and, moreover, copes with various situations. It is also the basis for the proper functioning of the individual in society. Importantly, there is a very fine line between mental health and an illness resulting from an disorder. You should also be aware that the proper condition of the psyche is inextricably linked with the lifestyle and condition of the organism.

There are many myths about this disease and it is often confused with Alzheimer’s disease. In order to dispel any doubts, you should get to know the facts.
For this purpose, a questionnaire was conducted among the students (5 short questions). In order to answer them correctly, it was necessary to read the content in school display cases. There were also (traditionally) giving out orange bows and tangerines. There were Pilates classes. All this so that our awareness (knowledge) was greater, which may translate into real help for sick people.
