Scandinavian cuisine, or love for simplicity

In December, seniors participated in culinary workshops devoted to Scandinavian cuisine.

At the beginning of the classes, the instructor – Mrs. Mariola, presented the project participants with the above-mentioned cuisine, which consists of traditional flavors of: Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland. It is one of the healthiest cuisines in the world. Its advantage is simplicity, which translates into a relatively small amount of fried dishes. Herring, salmon, cod, trout, lobster, scallops are smoked, dried, canned, often grilled, and then served. Scandinavian cuisine is characterized by the use of a small amount of spices and herbs.

Later, the seniors started preparing the following dishes in subgroups, i.e.:

  • Finnish pancake from the oven pannukakku,
  • hernekeitto – traditional Scandinavian pea soup.

The classes ended with a tasting of jointly prepared dishes.

The workshops were organized as part of the project “World on a plate” project no.: 2021-2-PL01-ESC30-SOL000040182
