Discovering new places is the best opportunity to spend your free time actively. Therefore, on August 29, 2023, on Tuesday, a group of 20 seniors from Sosnowiec went on a trip to Opole. The trip was organized as part of the European Solidarity Corps project entitled “Young in spirit” project number: 2022-2-PL01-ESC30-SOL-000091172. The idea of a trip for seniors was consistent with the aim of the project, which is to stimulate seniors to take action, awaken their curiosity about physical activity and take care of their physical and mental well-being.
The seniors started their tour of Opole from the Piast Tower. From its top you could see a beautiful landscape of the city skyline. Later they visited an extraordinary place, the Museum of Polish Song. There, seniors used audio guides and touch screens to listen to songs by Polish artists who performed on the Opole stage years ago. They also visited the Opole Amphitheater. The next point of the program was a walk around the Opole Old Town, during which participants could see: the Cathedral, the Town Hall, the Avenue of Polish Song Stars, and the Venice of Opole. There was also the opportunity to taste wonderful French pancakes in Grabówka, which are enjoyed by residents and tourists not only from Poland, but also from all over the world.
Later, all project participants went to the Opole open-air museum, commonly known as the open-air museum. They had the opportunity to walk along country paths, look into thatched cottages, visit a water mill, a windmill, a school, etc.
Everyone really enjoyed the trip. The seniors covered the beautiful Opole paths without any problems. The seniors returned home full of impressions, thinking about their next trip.
